Antarctica Basecamp Expedition

Sail across the famous Drake Passage following the route once taken by legendary polar explorers. During the day, enjoy presentations from expedition experts and observe seabirds such as wandering albatrosses, petrels, and fulmars gliding above the waves.

Continue sailing toward Antarctica and cross the Antarctic Convergence, where cold Antarctic waters meet warmer sub-Antarctic seas. This unique zone attracts rich marine life and a variety of seabirds, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities from the deck.

Arrive in the Antarctic region with breathtaking views of glaciers, snow-covered peaks, and drifting icebergs. Your first landings and Zodiac cruises may take place around the Melchior Islands and Schollaert Channel as you begin exploring this pristine environment.

Sail through the stunning Neumayer Channel near Wiencke Island. This area offers opportunities for Zodiac cruises, kayaking among icebergs, and snowshoe hikes across the Antarctic landscape. Mountaineering options may also be available depending on weather conditions.

Visit Port Lockroy on Goudier Island, a historic British research station now serving as a museum and post office. Guests can observe gentoo penguins and blue-eyed shags nearby. Snowshoe hikes may also be possible at Damoy Point. 

Cruise through the dramatic Lemaire Channel, often called the “Kodak Gap” for its spectacular scenery. Landings around Pléneau and Petermann Islands provide chances to see Adélie penguins, whales, and leopard seals while enjoying kayaking and glacier walks.

Visit Neko Harbour, one of the most scenic sites on the Antarctic Peninsula. Surrounded by massive glaciers and towering peaks, this location offers Zodiac cruises and shore landings with spectacular views of the icy wilderness.

Experience one of the most memorable activities of the expedition—camping in Antarctica. Spend the night on the snow under the polar sky while enjoying breathtaking surroundings and incredible silence of the Antarctic wilderness.

Explore islands within the scenic Errera Channel region including Danco Island, Cuverville Island, Orne Island, and Georges Point. Enjoy final Zodiac cruises, wildlife encounters, and snowshoe hikes before leaving the Antarctic Peninsula. 

Depart Antarctica and begin the return journey across the Drake Passage. Continue wildlife watching and attend onboard presentations while reflecting on the incredible experiences of the expedition.

Enjoy the final full day at sea while sailing back toward Ushuaia. Seabirds accompany the ship as you relax onboard and share expedition memories with fellow travelers.

Arrive back in Ushuaia in the morning. After breakfast, disembark the vessel and transfer to the airport or continue your onward journey with unforgettable memories of Antarctica.
